Windows 10 End of Life in October: It’s Time to Upgrade or Replace

As of October 14, 2025, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10, marking the end of an era for one of the most widely used operating systems in the world.

What Does “End of Life” Mean?

When Microsoft ends support for an operating system, it stops providing:

-Security updates

Bug fixes

Technical support (From Microsoft)

This means any PC still running Windows 10 after the deadline will be increasingly vulnerable to cyberattacks, viruses, and other security threats.

Can Your PC Upgrade to Windows 11?

The key factors are your processor and TPM 2.0 support. Windows 11 requires at least an 8th Gen Intel processor and TPM 2.0, which enhances security. You can check compatibility in Settings > About
If your device meets these requirements, upgrading is simple. Most users can retain their files and apps, and the upgrade option should appear in Windows Update for easy installation.

What If Your PC Isn’t Compatible?

If your system doesn’t meet Windows 11’s requirements, replacing non-upgradable devices is the smartest move. Newer PCs offer built-in support, stronger security, and better performance, ensuring long-term value.

What You Should Do Now:

Take inventory – Identify devices still running Windows 10.

Check compatibility – Use the PC Health Check Tool or consult IT.

Plan ahead – Don’t wait—upgrade or replace systems now to avoid last-minute stress.
